Mr. Nathen L. Jackson-Brown AKA NateDogg916

Nathen is a biracial man that grew up in a ghetto neighborhood in Sacramento, California called Del Paso Heights. He is the second child of four, bore by a white woman who raised all her children alone. His childhood consisted of different male influences that came from the environment around him, such as drug dealers, pimps, murderers and robbers. These are the type of people who influenced his young mind, and he became accustomed to that behavior. It was only natural that Nathen began to not only take on most of these attributes, but flourish in the same lifestyles. He dropped out of school to pursue his dream of being the best drug dealer and Blood gang member that he could. This led to numerous juvenile detention center trips and county jail bids. Eventually he landed in the California Department of Corrections.

Shortly after turning 22 years old, Nathen was convicted of Assault with a Deadly Weapon and sentenced to 18 years. He then spent from August 30th, 1997 to June 8th, 2014 in almost every maximum security prison (also known as Level 4) that California had to offer, as well as numerous Administrative Segregation (the hole) trips and two trips the SHU (Security Housing Unit); the prison inside of prison. Upon his release, he vowed to never return and to do whatever he could to help others not go in.

To date Mr. Jackson-Brown has started a YouTube channel called NateDogg916 where he speaks his truth with the hopes that people are inspired, as well as interviews with people who have made it out of prison and have created successful lives for themselves. He has been approved to reenter a California prison in an effort to reach back and show that success is possible after incarceration. He is also trying to establish reentry homes in his city so that the people who participate in the group he starts in the prison can come out and continue the same work. The main thing is Nathen is doing above all is remaining free and viable.
