Terrance Coffie is a 2017 M.S.W, and 2016 B.S.W. graduate of New York University. In 2017 he was named the Alex Rosen NASW NYC-NYU Student of the Year, as well as the 2017 Citizens Against Recidivism, Educator of the Year. Terrance currently is a Professor at New York University teaching Forensic Justice in Problem Solving Courts.

As a social justice advocate, youth activist, and proponent for educational and criminal justice reform, Terrance has committed himself to being a change agent by way of higher education.

Terrance Coffie has spent more than half of his adult life in correctional institutions. After years of selling drugs, violence and incarceration , it would be his last charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and facing a 20 year prison sentence, where he would begin a journey leading him from a life of crime, substance abuse and imprisonment to finding not only his purpose and mission in life, but also academic excellence at one of the most prestigious institutions in the world, New York University. As a contributing author to Race, Education, and Reintegrating Formerly Incarcerated Citizens, Terrance has shared the importance of post-secondary educational opportunities for incarcerated citizens. He also shared his views in several op-eds featured in USA Today.
